Part 107 is the section of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) that governs small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) operations in the U.S. for commercial purposes. It includes rules for certification, operating requirements, and safety guidelines.
By providing free Part 107 preparation training Vets to Drones aims to help members with the following considerations:
- Support Transitions to Civilian careers by equipping veterans with in-demand skills for a smooth transition into civilian job markets in the UAS industry.
- Lower Financial Barriers to preparation by removing the cost and accessibility barrier of FAA certification making it easier for vets to access commercial opportunities.
- Enhance Employability Readiness through preparing members to pass the FAA Part 107 exam, a legal requirement for commercial drone operations.
- Accelerate Workforce Development by filling a growing need for skilled drone operators across public and private sectors.
- Promote Veteran-Led Entrepreneurship by helping to lay the groundwork for veterans to launch their own businesses in the UAS field.
- Align with National Workforce and Innovation Goals though helping to expand the workforce, foster innovation, and safely integrate drones into the airspace.
